Born and raised in Brooklyn in 1988, Mook grew up surrounded by the soul-stirring sounds of R&B, thanks to his single mother. While his friends immersed themselves in hardcore hip-hop, Mook found a balance between both worlds, shaping his unique sound. A natural musician, he honed his craft early, mastering brass instruments like the trumpet, baritone, and tuba during high school. Mook started rapping at just 10 years old, but his passion turned serious at 12 when he got his first CD player and a copy of Ludacris’ Back for the First Time. That moment ignited his journey as an artist. By 2011, he decided to take his career to the next level, building an in-home studio where he began recording and developing his signature style. Deeply inspired by legendary producers like J Dilla, Pete Rock, and 9th Wonder, Mook’s sound is a soulful blend of thoughtful lyricism and masterful production. His most recent project, SoulFool: Side A, captivated listeners with its heartfelt narratives and lush, soulful beats. Now, Mook is preparing to release SoulFool: Side B, the next chapter of his journey. With his roots in Brooklyn and his passion for storytelling, Mook continues to push boundaries, solidifying himself as a voice to be reckoned with in hip-hop. Stay tuned—this is just the beginning.
